Climate variations, drought and desertification

First published to celebrate World Meteorological Day 1985 and updated and revised by Prof. L.A.J. Ogallo in 1993 to include the World Meteorological Organization's post-UNCED activities to combat desertification, and as part of WMO's contributions to the convention, this booklet explores the climatic stresses underlying drought and desertification and presents a balanced perspective of the role of climate in the uses made of the arid zone by human society.
