Social Aspects and Stakeholder Involvement in Integrated Flood Management

This publication highlights the importance of social aspects that need to be addressed in formulation of Integrated Flood Management polices. It provides an overview of various vulnerabilities of the society that have an impact on flood management issues. It also highlights the need for stakeholder participation in planning and implementation. Particularly, flood emergency management in pre, during and post flood stages. The paper attempts to outline the role of various stakeholders including Government institutions at all levels and NGOs in flood emergency response.
