Report on the 3rd WMO International Pyrgeometer Intercomparison (IPgC-III) (27 September-15 October 2021, Davos, Switzerland)

This report presents the results of the thirdInternational Pyrgeometer Intercomparison (IPgC-III) that was organized by the Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos/World Radiation Centre (PMOD/WRC) in Davos, Switzerland, from 27 September to 15 October 2021. IPgC-III demonstrated the stability of the WISG and enabledthe calibration of a large number of instruments. It has been shown that there is an apparent offsetbetween the WISG and the International System of Units (SI) and that recent technologicaldevelopments enable to significantly reduce the uncertainties of potential new reference instruments.IPgC-III was also the occasion for investigating the performance of such modern instruments and howthey compare to the WISG. This will be crucial for ensuring the continuity of climate time series incase of reference change.
