Its goal is to further the understanding of the role of UN agencies, including the UNDP, and the role of the international community in DRR. Issues addressed: (i) reducing the impact of disaster through prevention measures; (ii) emergency response and recovery from disasters; (iii) gender equality and the empowerment of women in disasters; (iv) emerging risks: climate change and urbanization; and (v) investments in preparedness for recovery
