Guidelines on performance assessment of public weather services
The purpose of this Technical Document is to provide broader guidance on performance assessment of public weather services, with something of an emphasis on forecasts and warnings. An assessment programme can be seen in the context of a quality system, where it is important to ensure that the information gathered and processed is focussed on user requirements, to be used in making decisions and taking actions to improve performance, rather than just being gathered for the sake of it. In essence, the object of the exercise is to ensure a sustainable and cost-effective system delivering quality public weather services.
