As part of the activities which WMO carries out in its Programme on the Physics and Chemistry of Clouds and Weather Modification Research, a Register of National Weather Modification Projects is kept. The Register has existed since 1975 when the Seventh World Meteorological Congress agreed that an inventory of activities within Member countries related to weather modification should be initiated and maintained. During the 12th Session of CAgM held in Accra, Ghana, February 1999, a Working Group on “The impacts of agrometeorological applications for sustainable management of farming systems, forestry and livestock” was established. The purpose of this Technical Document which is intended as a supplement to WMO/TD No. 1023, is to provide further elaboration of the concepts portrayed in WMO/TD No. 1023 and to re-enforce understanding through the provision of practical examples and models employed by various NMSs. Issues pertaining to some of the limitations of performance assessments are also discussed. Additionally, issues that require further investigation are highlighted.
