WCRP, 128. Assessment of global precipitation products : a project of the World Climate Research Programme Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Radiation Panel
World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ; Levizzani Vincenzo; United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); et al. - WMO, 2008 (WMO/TD-No. 1430)This report is a synthesis of the current state of knowledge in measurements of global precipitation, a major component of the global water and energy cycle that influences significantly the Earth’s climate system, and in turn is affected by the climate system variability and change. It is a comprehensive assessment of the current global precipitation data records which have been assembled by combining observations from space-based and in situ measurements. These long-term records include observations over the land and oceans for a period of 25 years. The report describes in detail how these p ...

The report describes in detail how these precipitation records are developed, the underlying assumptions in sampling and processing procedures, their spatial and temporal resolution, and the potential sources of errors and anomalies in these records.

WWRP, 2008-04. Expert meeting to evaluate skills of tropical cyclone seasonal forecasts
This expert meeting was organized in response to the recommendations of the Sixth International Workshop on Tropical Cyclones to develop a common set of metrics to evaluate the skill of seasonal tropical cyclone forecasts and report on a central website hosted by WMO. Camargo et al. summarized in the October 2007 issue of the WMO Bulletin a number of statistical and dynamical seasonal forecasts. Representatives of each type of forecast were part of the expert team. Issues confronted when attempting to conduct an evaluation of forecasts produced by different groups

AGM, 10. Management of Natural and Environmental Resources for Sustainable Agricultural Development : Proceedings of a Workshop held from February 13-16, 2006, in Portland, Oregon
World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ; Pasteris P.; United States Department of Agriculture (USDA); et al. - WMO, 2008 (WMO/TD-No. 1428)Over the past two decades, there has been an increasing awareness of the potential damages that climate change, air and water pollution and inadequate natural resources management could induce upon human health, natural ecosystems and the economy. To address these concerns, considerable emphasis has been placed on sustainable development by many countries and international organizations. Accordingly, sustainable agricultural development has become a major issue of the 21 st century.
