GCOS, 128. Guideline for the Generation of Satellite-based Datasets and Products meeting GCOS Requirements
World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ; United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); International Council for Science (ICSU); et al. - WMO, 2009 (WMO/TD-No. 1488)This document provides a short summary of GCOS requirements for satellite-based climate monitoring that can serve as a guideline for the generation of satellite-based datasets and derived products in order to meet the requirements for climate monitoring and the long-term aspects of climate research.
These guidelines are intended to help space agencies and other relevant institutions in the way they process and analyze datasets obtained from satellite instruments, to subsequently generate Essential Climate Variable (ECV) products (cf. Annex I and III).

Getting your message across : Media Guide for WMO Information and Public Affairs Focal Points at National Meteorological and Hydrological Services
This “Media Guide” is designed as a working tool for WMO Information and Public Affairs focal points within NMHS to achieve the above objectives and facilitate their work of getting the weather, climate and water message out to the public at large.
This guide refers to basic concepts and approaches in dealing with the media, whether through one-on-one interviews, press conferences or briefings or by disseminating “news” via press releases or other means of communication, including the Internet. It is not aimed solely at media presenting forecasts, but also at reporters, editors and broa ...

GAW Report, 187. Joint report of COST Action 728 and GURME - Review of the capabilities of meteorological and chemistry-transport Models for describing and predicting air pollution episodes
This report forms the first deliverable of Working Group 3 of the COST Action 728 on “Enhancing Mesoscale Meteorological Modelling Capabilities for Air Pollution and Dispersion
Applications”. The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the current capabilities and applications of mesoscale modelling systems for describing and predicting air quality and related meteorological conditions. The applications are discussed from the perspective of meteorology, which is in line with the main aim of the COST 728 Action.

The World Climate Research Programme achievements : scientific knowledge for climate adaptation, mitigation and risk management
This report illustrates the depth and breadth of observational research and analysis, modelling and synthesis, and climate projection and prediction activities that arebeing coordinated by WCRP. In addition it provides the highlights of the solid scientific foundation that WCRP has established for developing and disseminating the climate science knowledge that will be required in the ensuing decades to inform decision-makers on all aspects of mitigation, adaptation and risk management associated with climate variability and change.
