Regional Association V (South-West Pacific)
Regional Association (RA) V is one of the largest of the six WMO Regional Associations. Most of the countries of the region are susceptible to severe weather, such as tropical cyclones and the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomena. This booklet provides a short introduction to the region and its weather.

WHYCOS: World Hydrological Cycle Observing System
Forty per cent of the world's population today lives in countries which have medium-to-high water stress. Unless water resources are wisely managed, shortages could become a serious obstacle to economic and social progress. The World Hydrological Cycle Observing System (WHYCOS) has been developed to contribute to WMO's goal of assisting Member countries maintain and improve their observational and information systems to help them better manage their water resources. This booklet gives a short look at this programme.
