The Economics of Climate Change in Southeast Asia: A Regional Review
ADB, 2009This report, published by the Asian Development Bank, examines the economics of climate change in Southeast Asia. The report focuses on Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam in particular. It is found that the region is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change due to its heavily populated coastal areas and its reliance on agriculture. Therefore, Southeast Asia will be required to undertake a relatively high proportion of adaptation measures. It is also argued that the region has a great deal of potential in terms of climate change mitigation and the regio ...

This report, published by the Asian Development Bank, examines the economics of climate change in Southeast Asia. It is also argued that the region has a great deal of potential in terms of climate change mitigation and the region should aim to play an important role in a global solution to the climate change crisis. The report concludes by offering a series of policy recommendations relating to: mitigation; adaptation; funding, technology transfer, and international/region cooperation; government policy co-ordination and undertaking more research on climate-related issues.

This guide refers to basic concepts and approaches in dealing with the media, whether through one-on-one interviews, press conferences or briefings or by disseminating “news” via press releases or other means of communication, including the Internet. It is not aimed solely at media presenting forecasts, but also at reporters, editors and broadcast producers who cover general news and feature stories that are impacted by climate- and weather-related events. Relations with the media must be constantly nurtured. This is why it is also designed to help NMHS assist journalists who may not necessarily have the required expertise in meteorological and hydrological matters in getting the message across.Notes: Polish version available here.
