This website of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is aimed to serve as a platform for the information sources for tropical cyclone forecasters to obtain data and tools which are useful for monitoring and forecasting of tropical cyclones. Development of the Tropical Cyclone Forecaster Website was under the WMO TCP Sub-Project No. 24 which was established in response to a recommendation from IWTC-IV (Haikou, Hainan, China, 1998) and IWTC-V (Cairns, Australia, 2002).

The Tropical Cyclone Programme is a part of WMO's Weather and Disaster Risk Reduction Services Department tasked to establish national and regionally coordinated systems to ensure that the loss of life and damage caused by tropical cyclones are reduced to a minimum.
