They are distributed over the different fields of hydrology concerned with surface water, groundwater, hydrometeorology, soil moisture and related fields such as river hydraulics and water-resources management. Also included is the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) scheme for hydrology in English and Russian as well as tables of recommended symbols and units for hydrological purposes.

This document is to guide forecasters working for the aviation community. Its intention is to discuss the many and varied phenomena which, unfortunately, can prove hazardous to aviation which lower the safety of air operation and may cause loss of equipment and life. Whilst some forecasting techniques are mentioned, of itself this document is not a forecasting ‘textbook’. It is intended that the reader is familiar with some quite technical terms used in meteorology. Practicing forecasters reading this document should have ready access to more involved texts on the various subjects.

This CD-ROM presents 49 of the "blue series" publications issued under the Education and Training Programme of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) from 1955 to 1984. Many of these training publications are now out of print. These publications still serve as good reference material for meteorology and operational hydrology, especially in the developing countries. This CD-ROM contains these publications together with the aim of preserving and making them available to Members in electronic format.
