This revised Strategy on Meteorology (Weather, Water and Climate) of the African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology (AMCOMET) is a response to the request of the Fourth Ordinary Session of AMCOMET held in Cairo, Egypt in February 2019 for an updated Strategy. The session agreed that the AMCOMET Strategy on Meteorology should be revised to accommodate emerging issues relating to gender equality, data and infrastructure, research, development and innovation as well as public-private engagement.

AMCOMET Achievements 2010–2018
Many initiatives and partnerships have flourished under the umbrella of the African Union’s Strategy on Meteorology by aligning their actions with its priorities and demonstrating coherence of efforts. This report highlights key initiatives that have been made possible as a result of the increased visibility AMCOMET has brought to weather, climate and water services in Africa. This document sets out a competency framework for personnel involved in training, but it is not necessary that each person has the full set of competencies. WMO and the World's Water
Of all the Earth’s water, only 2.5 per cent is freshwater. Of this, nearly 70 per cent is frozen in the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland, leaving less than 1 per cent of all water on Earth available for human consumption.
