As scientific interest is more and more focusing on the regional cross-border implications of a possible climate change, routine monitoring of regional climate for whole Europe is becoming more and more important. The need for a more co-ordinated approach to the preparation of climate system monitoring information led to the idea to publish an annual regional climate monitoring Bulletin. The eleventh session of the WMO Regional Association VI (RA VI), which took place in Oslo in May 1994, approved the proposal.
The goal of Many Strong Voices is to promote the well-being, security, and sustainability of coastal communities in the Arctic and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) by bringing these regions together to take action on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and to tell their stories to the world.
The Arctic and SIDS are barometers of global environmental change. As they are on the frontlines of climate change, they are also critical testing grounds for the ideas and programmes that will strengthen the adaptive capacities of human societies confronting climate change.
PermalinkJMA, 2003-[...]The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) promotes monitoring climate change.
JMA has issued "Climate Change Monitoring Report" every year informing the latest status of climate change in Japan and the world, greenhouse gases and the ozone layer.
These reports are expected to help readers such as policy makers and researchers to obtain better understanding of the latest status of the climate and further to take measures against the global warming and for protection of the global environment.PermalinkThe World Climate Data and Monitoring Programme (WCDMP), a sub-program of the World Climate Programme (WCP), provides an international coordination of the WMO Climate System Monitoring. Priorities of WCDMP include the provision of guidance to the WMO Members in the area of climate data and climate assessment and monitoring; and the publication and dissemination of WMO authoritative reports on the status of the global climate. WCDMP offers in parallel a platform for an international collaboration for fostering high quality climate data sets and their exchange and undertaking capacity building a ...PermalinkThe Commission for Climatology advises and guides the activities of the World Climate Programme, through the World Climate Applications and Services Programme, and the World Climate Data and Monitoring Programmewhile providing support to many activities under the framework of the Climate Agenda.PermalinkPermalinkPermalinkWorld Meteorological Organization (WMO) ; United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC); et al. - WCRPPermalink
