Weather and child health in rural Nigeria
The effect of weather shocks on children's anthropometrics is investigated using the two most recent rounds of the Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey. For this purpose, climate data for each survey cluster are interpolated using daily weather-station records from the national network. The findings reveal that rainfall shocks have a statistically significant and robust impact on child health in the short run for both weight-for-height and height-for-age, and the incidence of diarrhea. Acclimate: un projet et un portail pour l'adaptation au changement climatique des îles de la Commission de l'Océan Indien
Les îles de la COI (Union des Comores, Madagascar, Maurice, France/Réunion, Seychelles) sont en première ligne face au changement climatique. Alors qu’elles contribuent de manière négligeable aux émissions de gaz à effet de serre, elles risquent de subir des dégâts énormes et potentiellement irréversibles au niveau de l’environnement, de l’économie et de la société.
L’adaptation au changement climatique est donc pour elles une priorité absolue, nécessitant la mise en place d’actions appropriées et un soutien important de la part de la communauté internationale.

Annexe - Tarage du fleuve Sénégal a Gouina-Amont
Le tarage du Sénégal à GOUINA-Amont est de type univoque, stable et sans anomalie. La station est située à l'amont d'une chute d'une dizaine de mètres de hauteur, donc soumise à un contrôle aval "idéal". De nombreux jaugeages de moyennes eaux ont été réalisés, au cours desquels la pente superficielle a été mesurée. La courbe de moyennes eaux est donc bien définie mais l'extrapolation de 2 500 à 7 000 m3/s est difficile. Cet exemple est extrait du Manuel d'hydrométrie - Tome V (annexe A2).
