MMROA Report, 38. Evaluation of the highest wave in a storm
World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ; Lopatoukhin L.J.; Ryabinin V.E. - WMO, 1998 (WMO/TD-No. 858)"In the present note we consider only the problem of statistical estimation of the highest wave in a single storm. Issues related to evaluation of highest waves in a series of storms or those for longer periods (months or years) as well as n-years wave parameters deserve a separate publication."World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ; L.J. Operational hydrology report (OHR), 30. Hydrological aspects of combined effects of storm surges and heavy rainfall on river flow
This report is concerned with the flood hydrology of the lower reaches of rivers where sea level can influence flood levels. It is the outcome of two reports, one on hydrological aspects of the combined effects of storm surge and heavy rainfall on river flow, and the other on the frequency of flooding in rivers subject to sea-storm surges and rainfall-induced floods. At the instigation of the Commission for Hydrology the reports were combined and further expanded to include guidance material on flood modelling in tidal areas and material on forecasting centres.PermalinkPermalink![]()
NOAA Technical Memorandum NWS SR, 145. Weather Glossary for Storm Spotters : a comprehensive glossary of weather terms for storm spotters
Introduction to the First Edition
This glossary contains weather-related terms that may be either heard or used by severe local storm spotters or spotter groups. Its purposes are 1) to achieve some level of standardization in the definitions of the terms that are used, and 2) provide a reference from which the meanings of any terms, especially the lesser-used ones, can be found. The idea is to allow smooth and effective communication between storm spotters and forecasters, and vice versa. This is an important necessity within the severe weather warning program. Despite advances in warni ...PermalinkPermalinkPermalinkPermalinkPermalink
