The fifteenth session of the Commission for Basic Systems (CBS-XV) (Jakarta, Indonesia, 10-15 September 2012) agreed the BUFR editions 3 and the CREX edition 1 should be removed from the Manual on Codes, Volume I.2 (WMO-No. 306) and retained on the WMO Website.

O.S.C.A.R.: Observing Systems Capability Analysis and Review Tool
OSCAR is a resource developed by WMO in support of Earth Observation applications, studies and global coordination.
It contains quantitative user-defined requirements for observation of physical variables in application areas of WMO (i.e. related to weather, water and climate). OSCAR also provides detailed information on all earth observation satellites and instruments, and expert analyses of space-based capabilities.

Commission for Basic Systems (CBS)
The main activities of the Commission for Basic Systems (CBS) are related to the development, implementation and operation of integrated systems for observing, data processing, data communication and data management, and to the provision of public weather services, in response to requirements of all WMO Programmes and opportunities provided by technological developments.
