TIGGE LAM
TIGGE-LAM currently groups five European ensemble systems in a standard data format, and five more will be added in the near future [see table].
TIGGE-LAM is an extension of the THORPEX Interactive Grand Global Ensemble (TIGGE) archive to include weather forecasts from limited area model (LAM) ensembles. These forecasts are produced on grids between 10 and 2 km resolution and provide detailed information for the short range, up to a few days ahead. This complements the larger-scale information provided by the global data in the established TIGGE archive.

Climate change and the water rules : how water managers can cope withe today's climate variability and tomorrow's climate change
Climate changes the water rules is a comprehensive report that shows all of us working in the water sector that we will be affected by natural and human activities one way or the other. The evidence for climate change is there; chapter 1 gives an excellent overview and has used well known sources and references. The dialogues have concentrated to bring water managers closer to the climate community. The authors mentioned the confidence of climatologists to say something about the world's climate in 50 to 100 years, but what they preferred to know is the next occurrence of a severe drought or flood. One should be very prudent in that sense, since it is as hard to predict a flood as develop a global climate scenario for the future. The coping compendium is nicely extracted from the outcomes of the dialogue and sincere hope is there to continue the work and create the awareness amongst all working with natural resources and human development. Therefore setting up the "water and climate alliance" is a good sign for further collaboration between all stakeholders and can be seen as a token for true commitment.

Summary of the Bulletin of the International Seismological Centre = Bulletin of the International Seismological Centre = Bulletin du Centre Séismologique International = Бюллетень Международного сейсмологического центра
The Bulletin is the Centre's main publication. Published approximately two years after earthquakes occur, it contains all relevant information for a given month's earthquakes. For each event the origin estimates given by other agencies are listed, followed by the refined estimate calculated by the Centre. This gives origin time, latitude, longitude and depth with standard errors. The earthquake's felt effects and any unusual scientific features are also described. Magnitudes are calculated from body waves and surface waves when individual stations report measurements of amplitude and period, o ...Permalink![]()

NOAA Technical Memorandum NWS SR, 145. Weather Glossary for Storm Spotters : a comprehensive glossary of weather terms for storm spotters
Introduction to the First Edition
This glossary contains weather-related terms that may be either heard or used by severe local storm spotters or spotter groups. Its purposes are 1) to achieve some level of standardization in the definitions of the terms that are used, and 2) provide a reference from which the meanings of any terms, especially the lesser-used ones, can be found. The idea is to allow smooth and effective communication between storm spotters and forecasters, and vice versa. This is an important necessity within the severe weather warning program. Despite advances in warni ...Permalink![]()

ACQWA: A summary for policymakers
The project seeks to assess the vulnerability of water resources in mountain regions such as the European Alps, the Central Chilean Andes, and the mountains of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan) where declining snow and ice are likely to strongly affect hydrological regimes in a warmer climate. Model results are then used to quantify the environmental, economic and social impacts of changing water resources in order to assess how robust current water governance strategies are and what adaptations may be needed in order to alleviate the most negative impacts of climate change on water resources and wate ...PermalinkPermalink![]()

Enhancing Resilience to Climate and Ecosystem Changes in Semi-Arid Africa : an integrated approach (CECAR-AFRICA)
As a part of global efforts to tackle impacts of climate and ecosystem changes, we urgently need to overcome vulnerability of terrestrial ecosystems in developing countries, especially Africa. This research program aims for three objectives by focusing on the semi-arid region of northern Ghana where the change impacts have been severely felt in forms of unpredictable floods and droughts: (1) forecast and assessment of climate and ecosystem change impact on agricultural production; (2) risk assessment of extreme weather events and introduction of adaptive water resource management methods; and ...Permalink![]()
