The purposes of TIP-8 were to review the present status of the TAO array; to address technical and logistic issues related to its maintenance; and to provide a forum for discussion of enhancements and expansions of the array for climate studies.

Sea-level activities in the countries of the course participants (primarily Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries in South America and Africa) are briefly described. Training Course on Management of Marine Data and Information for the IOCINCWIO Region
UNESCO, 2000 (Training course reports-No. 46)The course was designed within the continuing training programme of the IODE to familiarize marine data and information managers with current procedures and methods related to marine data and information management, with a special emphasis on newest microcomputer methods and software. Through such training courses the IOC aims to ensure increasing and sustained collaboration of Member States in the IODE programme, and to maintain a high level of competence in the National Oceanographic Data Centres.
