Tackling the limits to adaptation: An international framework to address 'loss and damage' from climate change impacts
ActionAid International (ActionAid); Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere - International Secretariat (CARE) ; World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) - ActionAid, 2012This document argues that current and future scale of climate change implies serious loss and damage, especially to the lives and livelihoods of those who are poor, most vulnerable and least to blame.

The Climate and Development Challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean: Options for Climate Resilient Low Carbon Development: executive summary
IDB, 2012Climate change will have broad impacts on human activities and ecosystems during this century. The likely consequences are of such magnitude that the simultaneous need to adapt to the new climate conditions and reduce the carbon footprint to prevent further damage will likely become one of the main driving forces for the global community. Specifically, a rise of 2C over pre-industrial levels is now seen as unavoidable with significant negative effects in economic activities, social conditions and on ecosystems.
This study, a joint IDB-ECLAC-WWF effort, addresses key topics related to th ...

Specifically, a rise of 2C over pre-industrial levels is now seen as unavoidable with significant negative effects in economic activities, social conditions and on ecosystems.
This study, a joint IDB-ECLAC-WWF effort, addresses key topics related to the climate challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean: 1) key physical impacts consequence of climate change that most affect the region, likely cost to the regional economies derived from these impacts, and key adaptation measures to respond; and, 2) how and at what cost would the region be able to reduce its contribution to the global carbon footprint at a level consistent with climate stabilization goals. During this event, key findings of the analysis will be released followed by a general overview of the study. The full document will be launched during the Rio+20 Conference on June 20th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.Language(s): English; Other Languages: Spanish

The Energy Report, 100% renewable energy by 2050
WWF, 20112 years in preparation, The Energy Report is a provocative vision of a world run entirely on renewable energy by 2050.
It comes in 2 parts.
The first part seeks to generate a discussion around the comprehensively researched scenario that is presented in the 2nd part, conducted by project partner consultancy Ecofys.

Buying time: a user’s manual for building resistance and resilience to climate change in natural systems
WWF, 2003This manual is intended for natural resource managers who wish to plan for the potential and current impacts of climate change. It looks at impacts and mitigation measures (other than reducing emissions) by biome. The manual outlines practical ideas of how to begin increasing the resiliency of ecosystems and plan our protected areas in response to the threat of climate change. Some of these strategies are in line with conservation strategies that are not new, such as reducing fragmentation, building corridors, reducing threats, and increasing resiliency in general. The manual calls on managers ...

The manual calls on managers to communicate the threat that climate change poses to their biome to local, regional and national authorities. Resource managers have an important role to play in the climate change debate by using examples of changes seen in their regions as indicators of the need for rapid and deep cuts in CO2 emissions.

Climate Policy Tracker for the European Union
The climate policy tracker is a comprehensive review of policies of EU member states that affect greenhouse gas emissions. It provides an overview of the policy situation of each member state broken down by sector and policy area. In addition, it provides a rating to measure the impact of these climate policies, via 83 indicators. The indicators do not only measure whether policies directed at emission reduction are in place, but also whether counterproductive policies and barriers for emission reduction are adequately removed.
